Crescent Bend Nature Park

One of the lesser known, hidden gems of the area, Crescent Bend Nature Park is a short 10-minute drive from Selma. Explore the wonders of nature along one of the trails or bring a pair of binoculars to embark on a bird watching adventure. You can even catch a glimpse of the water fowl at the nearby creek. The trails at Crescent Bend are easy and perfect for novice hikers. 

Retama Park

Retama Park is one of the more popular attractions in the area. Home of thoroughbred racing, you can stop in on a race day and witness the horses run the track. Retama Park offers events throughout the year as well so you can experience something different. Enjoy a firework display during their Fourth of July celebration or find time to meet and greet the camels and zebras. They even host ostrich, camel, and zebra races sometimes! Stay to watch the races and grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants at Retama Park or grab a quick snack from a concession stand. The Terrace dining room gives you a spectacular view of the races and access to a delicious buffet. 

Blue Bonnet Palace in Selma, TX

Blue Bonnet Palace is a nightclub located in Selma. With a full bar and drink specials, this is one of the favorites of many locals. There’s an outdoor stage for concerts so you can enjoy live music while sipping your drink or kick back and enjoy the sounds of a DJ. 

Pickrell Park

With an outdoor pool, this may be one of the top things to do near Selma, TX this summer. Located just a short drive outside of Selma in Schertz, TX, Pickrell Park is the perfect gathering place for an afternoon of fun with the family. Covering 17 acres of land, there is plenty to explore at Pickrell. Play a game of basketball or get a breath of fresh air with the walking trail. With picnic pavilions and barbeque grills, pack a cooler and make a day of fun and memories. Children will enjoy the playsets and swings the park has to offer. The park also features basic amenities, such as bathrooms and water fountains. The park is host to many events throughout the year, so you never know what you may find! 

It is a small-town suburb but it is located near many great places and apartments in Selma, TX. You can enjoy the nightlife Selma has to offer by visiting the popular Blue Bonnet Palace. If that’s not your speed, explore the horse races available at Retama Park. Pack a picnic and cool off in the pool at Pickrell Park.
